Corporate Crackdown and Dolce & Gabbana
Corporate Crackdown is directed towards basically all consumers.
This add has a few brands that I can identify with such as Visa, Nike, Coca Cola, Wal Mart, Citi bank, Apple, Mcdonalds and Windows.
There really isn't just one specific group that this advertisement is directed towards.
The image is a flag with some of the most well-known brands and logos. The flag symbolizes America as a nation of consumers. Which is what we all are.
Although not all name brands are better than the generic verions. Example: I have drank a Safe way brand of cola vs. Coca Cola and its taste was EXACTLY the SAME!
I'd rather save my money and buy a cheaper brand than purchase something just for its name!
The only name brands I may use are body supplies. I love Victoria's Secret lotions and perfume. I also like Dove and Pantene. The only reason I choose these brands is because of their scents. None of them work any better than any other brand, they all do the same thing, I just prefer the way they smell over generic brands.

The other I add I chose was the Dolce & Gabbana add, which featured Madonna.
Looking at this add I couldn't really figure out what they were selling. The ad is a picture of Madonna washing some dishes in a nice leopard print top. Dolce & Gabbana is a high end fashion and very expensive, so I knew they must have been selling clothes. I found it kind of weird that they didn't really show her clothes too much, it was just a side view. Im guessing they are just using Madonna since she is very famous to market and sell their brand, not the actual fashion.
If I was flipping through a magazine and saw this ad, I would definately look passed it. There is nothing that catches my eye. The picture is black and white. The clothes are nice but they blend in to the back ground.
I also chose this ad because, Dolce & Gabbana is known for creating controversial ads. They usually portray women as second-class citizens. This ad. can definately be considered another one of those ads, since she is washing dishes and cleaning.

"You Gotta Have 150 Friends"
So this blog was due Friday....I am a little late, because I am a idiot and couldn't figure out how to log into my blogger. Anyways, I am supposed to choose one of the essays from "What Matters in America," and write about it. I chose to write about "You Gotta Have 150 Friends," by Robin Dunbar.
Dunbar says that the average number of Facebook friends that we can maintain meaningful relationships is 150.
I think this is crazy. There are only about 10 people I really interact with on Facebook and that is on a weekly basis, NOT DAILY! I have about 400 Facebook friends, Most I don't know and quite a few of them I don't even like! Then there is the select few few that I check up on and chat with.

Taylor Roberson <3
This blog is for my English 100 class.
I chose this Gucci Guilty ad. because they are using sex to sell their product. The image on this ad. is very seductive and alluring. They used a provocative picture of a man and woman holding each other with no shirt on. The object they are selling is a perfume. The name is Gucci Guilty. I think they used sex to sell this image so that they could emphasize the word GUILTY.
