The book I read over Spring break was The Lost One, by Lynne Ewing a fantasy novel from the series of "Daughters Of the Moon. It had approximately 274 pages and was published by Volo books, in New York. I selected this book because I have read the first few books of the series and I loved them, I couldn't put the books down they were so entertaining. The book "The Lost One," is about a girl who can move things with her mind. She woke up one morning with no recollection of who she was and some followers. She later discovers that she was one of the lost members of Daughter of the Moon, she meets the other girls and they let her know that she is one of them. There job is to make sure the followers don't turn the world to all night. Basically the title "The Lost One," relates to the story because she was lost she had to find herself and find out who and what she was.
The main characters are Tiana, Catty, Serena, Vanessa, and Jimena. Tiana meets them after she wakes up with amnesia and is being followed by dark men, who are almost like shadows. She realizes that if she focuses enough she can move things with her mind. The rest of the girls show he how to use her power for good. Each of the girls have their own special power. Vanessa can become invisible, Catty can time travel, Jimena can have premonitions, and Serena reads minds. Together they are an invincible force!
The theme of this book is good vs. evil. The girls are the light that fight the followers from bringing eternal darkness.

Very good details in this review. I like how you talked about the book and got us interested.
ReplyDeleteGood vs evil is that universal theme that speaks to so many of us. I think that's why it comes up time after time in books, movies, tv shows, music...we can all relate.
