THE COMIC I CHOSE WAS BY JERRY SCOTT AND JIMBORGMAN ON PAGE 172
THE COMIC IS A PICTURE OF AN OLDER COUPLE IN BED WATCHING THE NEWS . THE NEWS WAS FILLED WITH DRUGS, TEENAGE ALCOHOLSIM , GUNS MURDER, GANGS, AND OTHER PROBLEMS WE FACE IN SOCIETY TODAY. THE COUPLE SEEMED VERY FRIGHTENED WATCHING THE NEWS.AT THE END OF THE COMIC THEY JUMP IN BED WITH THEIR SON.
I could relate to this comic because everytime my parents watch the news they are mortified. They were always very angry while watching the news, they also would worry about me and try to tell me what is going on in the world and to be safe. I always kind of brushed off what they said, because I felt as if it doesn't affect me. Now i realize that it does affect me. I live in a world with lots of danger and lots of temptations and lots of poverty.
I think they jumped in bed with their son beause they felt he could protect him since most of these problems are in the younger generation. Most of the issues today weren't around when they were growing up. Most teenagers are used to the issues in the world today so they aren't shocked when they see something on the news.
THEY SECOND COMIC I CHOSE WASTHE BAN FREE SPEECH COMIC ON PAGE 189. THE COMIC IS A MAN HOLDING A SIGN SAYING "BAN FREE SPEECH," STANDING IN A RIOT, FIST PUMPING.
This comic relatesd to the issue of free speech, because alot of people are fighting to ban everyones rights. Books are being banned, violent television is being questioned, certain video games are being protested. Basically everything that is even a bit questionable is being banned are became an issue.
The comic isn't really funny to me, because it is a big issue to me that people are always trying to ban something. Our country is supposed to be a free country. No one has the right to ban anything. If someone doesn't like something then they shouldn't view it, but they sure don't have the right to try to take that privelage away from someone else!
Good details in this cartoon post. I agree that censorship is a serious thing. I wouldn't want other people to decide what I can or can't read, see or listen to!
