The Giver
In Lois Lowry's novel, The Giver, she creates a community based on interdependence. Everyone must conform to all rules and policies or else they are forced to leave the community. Everyone seems to be happy with the way things are ran, although their freedom is basically taken from them. This community is far different from how I was raised. In my country freedom is one of our rights. Laws are only enforced to protect, whereas in The Giver, laws are to keep them from making mistakes. Being independent is honored, and in the book being independent is shamed. Everyone is to work together in order for the community to work.

Good summary of the novel. I can tell you have a good understanding of the novel. I like how compared the way you were raised to the novel, which shows you connected with the book on the highest level of thinking. Good work.
