REFLECTIONS

Creating this blog was alot of fun. It allowed me to express myself and show who I am as a person, rather than just a student. It was quite stressful at times since I couldn't always use my computer at times. It was also hard since every week we had an essay due, plus three other classes to worry about. It was alot to handle but despite all the stress, it was FUN!

I also really enjoyed my English 1A class, I struggled making it since it was so early in the morning. I'm glad I took it though, I really enjoyed having Mrs. Mott as a teacher last semester and I wanted to keep her as my teacher for this semester. I feel that I developed alot as a writer and learned alot in this class.

My sense of happiness and success...

In class one of our topics was about what happiness and success really means to us...Success and Happiness to me isn't about money it's about LOVE, FAMILY, EDUCATION, PEACE AND HOPE

Love is one of the most beautiful feelings in life. To be able to share every intimate experience and trust in believe in someone to always look out for your better interest is one of the best feelings. Knowing you can always confide in somebody and trust them to never tell your secrets or use them against you is hard to find. People search every day to find true love... Some never find it and others may only get a chance to experience it for a short period of time, but just being able to experience this feeling atleast once is amazing.

Family is also one of the things that I consider makes me feel most happy. My Father is my best friend, no money in the world could every replace the love I have for him. He's always been supportive of me and never judged me. Every time I've needed him he's always been there for me. The times I've spent with my dad are some of the funnest times of my life and some of the happiest times also.
One of the things I believe is success is education. It doesn't matter how much money you make as long as your mind is rich. I chose a career in which I am working hard to earn. My career of choice is criminal justice. The passion I have for this field is crazy. I've worked in group homes and  loved my job so becoming a juvenile probation officer is my goal.

 I Chose this picture because it was a card my fiance gave to me. It shows all of the best qualities of life. Joy comes from within, it doesn't come from money, it doesn't come from gifts, but from within your heart. Peace is the most satisfying feeling. To have peace in your heart and being able to set the stress from the day to the side is hard to do. Without Hope you have nothing. You must hope for tomorrow or hope for the best. Last but not least Love is what everyone searches for, whether it's love within your family, love for a freind, or intimate love... everyone needs it.

into the wild 2

I couldn't imagine going hitchiking all the way to Alaska. Chris is a very strong man to have made it so far. Living off  of edible berries and plants for most of the way is crazy. He abandoned his car to walk also. The cold weather he was in and all the obstacles he faced are amazing. It is very inspiring reading this book. This man set out to find pure freedom and pure happieness, no matter what might get in his way. Although his journey was the death of him, he died in pure joy. He spent his last days going for his dream. This book inspired me to go to all extremes to go for my goals. Although his goals are very different from mine, it made me realize if I want something I must go and get it. I will not let anything set me back, whether it's car problems or financial problems, I will make sure I don't ever give up.

Into the Wild 1

Chris aka Alex is a very free spirited young man. He believes that one should only possess enough belongings to carry on you. He doesn't care about money and only uses it if it's a must. He left his family to be free from money and reality. He finds his journey to Alaska to be one of the most happiest times of his life.

I can relate to Chris alot. Well his ways of thinking. Money does not bring happieness. Freedom does. As much as I love to have money and nice things they don't bring me the ultimate joy of life. Being able to experience the beauty of nature and expereince true love  are some of the greatest things about life. It's true what they say, "the best things in life are free."

Movie Review: The Collection

I just recently went to the show with my fiance and saw the move THE COLLECTION by the director's of the movie SAW, it was a horror movie about a crazy cerial killer that plays sick and twisted games with all his victims. The killer would drug his victims till they would go crazy and become animalistic and attack visciously, he would also torture them and collect their bodies.The reason I chose this movie for my blog is because their was a specific part in the movie that made me think about reality. The cerial killer had collected one victim to keep. The victim's Father sent a friend out to find his daughter since the police don't neccassarily try hard enough, and usually exhaust their efforts quite fast. The person that was hired to find the victim went to the extreme to find her. He sacrificed his own life to save her. In reality police give up their investigation quite fast,  and missing children tend to get lost in the past without ever recovering their bodies or any conclusion to what happened. It made me realize that  justice is not always served and that families must never exhaust their efforts and if their is enough love for the victim the families will go to extreme measures to find their lost one, something the police would not do. If the Father didn't hire this man to find his daughter the police probably never would have. Although this movie was pure violence and horror it did make me think and realize that if a loved one comes up missing, not to give up and always search for them even if the police give up.

Class Topic: Life After College

In Ryan Healy's essay, "Twentysomething:Be Responsible Go Back Home for College, he informs his audience on the struggles college students are faced with financially. Most students and grads have a hard time finding away to provide for their selves during and after college. Reality is most can't afford to live on their own and are forced to move in with their parents. This essay was quite personal to me. As a college student it has been hard to find employment that works around my class schedule. I recently was let go from a job and haven't found an employer willing to work with me. Since school is important to me I have to sacrifice working so that I will have a career in my future rather than a simple job.

class topic: Advertisements

It's impossible to get through the day without being forced into reading, watching, or seeing some sort of advertisement unless your away from any type of socialization. Advertising manipulates everything around us. In Jay Chait's essay "Illusions are Forever," he quotes "We've been acculturated to the way advertisers and other media-makers look at things, so much that we have trouble seeing things in our own natural way." This statement was very powerful. I analyized this quote and realized that most people live life the way they are conditioned to through media. Media forces us to believe that expensive cars, high priced brand names, a big house with one son, one daughter and a mother and father are the American dream. Who says this is how life is really meant to be??? Media says so... Also sex sells...Causing most of us to believe that portarying ourselves as sexual objects is the only way to be attractive. We forget what we really believe in, what our ideal lifestyle is because we are being overwhelmed with 1000s of advertisements a day, whether we are watching TV, passing a bus stop, reading a magazine we are being consumed by advertisements.

class topic: ONLINE IDENTITY

Almost everyone in this generation has had atleast one profile on a social networking site, whether it's twitter, facebook, instagram, or myspace. Many people create false identites for many reasons. Some use it to be some one they are not due to low confidence in who they really are. I used to be addicted to Facebook about 6 months ago. One of the reasons I deactivated my account was due to these false identites. Many people that I knew in real life where complete strangers online. They would post pictures that had been digitally altered to look 10X better than their real life appearance. Also people would change their personality by talking in slang or only posting things they felt would be appealing to their audience. It was fake to me. Another thing that bothered me was people creating fake accounts using fake pictures to spy on people that would not accept their friend request. I had quite a few freind requests a week and alot of the time I was hesitant to add people because I had suspisions that they were impersonating someone else. Why would I want to share personal information with someone who could possibly be someone looking for dirt on me? Or possibly a stranger. These social networking sites could be potentionaly dangerous. Anybody could be a stranger and espicially with the new features these sites have you can pretty much be tracked down.
